Amazon Fire TV • complete 2026 lineup
Every Fire TV Device, Explained
Nine Fire TV devices, from the 1080p budget stick to the hands-free Cube. What each one actually does differently, and which one your TV and network can support.
The lineup in four tiers
Amazon sells four tiers of stick plus the Cube. The differences are real but smaller than the marketing suggests — here is what actually changes as you go up.
Fire TV Stick 4K Select
Wi-Fi 6, 8 GB of storage, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, and the Alexa Voice Remote with TV power and volume. On a 4K television with a normal Wi-Fi 6 router, this covers essentially every feature a Fire TV Stick can offer, and it does so without the flagship premium.
Check PriceFire TV Stick 4K Max
Worth the step up when one of three things applies: you run a Wi-Fi 6E router and want the 6 GHz band, you install enough apps to hit the storage ceiling on an 8 GB stick, or you want the Ambient Experience art mode. Otherwise the Select does the same job for less.
Check PriceFire TV Stick HD
A 4K device outputs a 1080p signal to a 1080p television, so on a smaller screen the HD stick is the honest purchase. This is the right call for a bedroom, kitchen, or guest-room TV, and for dorms and rentals.
Check PriceFlagship: Fire TV Stick 4K Max
The fastest Fire TV Stick, and the only one that takes advantage of a 6 GHz network.
Fire TV Stick 4K Max
- Quad-core 2.0 GHz — the highest clock speed in the Fire TV stick line
- 16 GB storage, double the standard sticks, so far fewer storage warnings
- Wi-Fi 6E tri-band, including the 6 GHz band on a compatible router
- Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG picture formats
- Dolby Atmos with 7.1 surround pass-through
- Fire TV Ambient Experience, which turns the TV into an art gallery when idle
Best for: homes with a modern Wi-Fi 6 or 6E router, large app libraries, and larger screens.
Check Price4K Max + Alexa Voice Remote Pro
- Everything in the 4K Max, plus the Pro remote
- Motion-activated backlight so buttons are visible in a dark room
- Remote finder — say “Alexa, find my remote” and it chimes
- Two customisable buttons for one-press app shortcuts
- Headphone pairing shortcut for private late-night listening
Best for: anyone who loses the remote in the couch, or watches at night.
Check PriceDo you actually have Wi-Fi 6E?
Wi-Fi 6E only helps if your router broadcasts a 6 GHz band. On a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 network the Max behaves like a very good Wi-Fi 6 stick — which is still a fine device, just not one you are paying a premium for. Check your router model before you decide.
The 4K tier: Plus and Select
Two sticks, same resolution, same Wi-Fi generation, same 8 GB of storage. The differences are small — so choose on the current listing and your ecosystem, not on the badge.
Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025)
- Quad-core 1.7 GHz, 8 GB storage
- Wi-Fi 6 dual-band
- Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG
- Dolby Atmos
- AI-powered Fire TV Search that works across apps
- Alexa Voice Remote with TV controls
Best for: a 4K setup where Wi-Fi 6 and 8 GB fit the household’s actual needs.
Check PriceFire TV Stick 4K Select (2025)
- Quad-core 1.7 GHz, 8 GB storage
- Wi-Fi 6
- Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG — the widest format list of the two
- Dolby Atmos
- Free ad-supported movies and TV plus live TV channels included
- Controls your TV power and volume from the remote
Best for: everyday 4K family viewing. This is the default recommendation for most homes.
Check PriceBoth run the same Fire TV software and receive the same feature updates. Whether the Select’s wider HDR format list or the Plus’s AI search matters more depends on what you watch — check the live listings, because Amazon rotates which of the two is bundled with which offer.
The HD tier: Fire TV Stick HD
The most-sold Fire TV device in the lineup, and the correct answer more often than people expect.
Fire TV Stick HD
- 1080p Full HD picture quality
- Quad-core 1.7 GHz, 8 GB storage
- Wi-Fi 5 dual-band
- HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG
- Access to 300,000+ free ad-supported movies and TV episodes
- Alexa Voice Remote with dedicated power and volume buttons
- Compact form factor that stays hidden behind the TV
Best for: secondary TVs, guest rooms, kids’ rooms, kitchens, dorms, and rentals.
Check PriceHD Stick + Made-for-Amazon USB-C Cable
- Powers the HD stick from the TV’s USB-A or USB-C port
- Removes the wall-adapter cord — the reason to buy this if your TV is wall-mounted
- Integrated circuitry stabilises current delivery during app launches
- Plug-and-play installation, no configuration
Best for: wall-mounted TVs where there is no reachable outlet behind the screen.
Check PriceThe Cube: Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)
Not a stick. A box with a built-in microphone, speaker, Ethernet port, and an extra HDMI input.
Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen)
- Octa-core processor: 4 × 2.2 GHz plus 4 × 2.0 GHz
- 16 GB storage
- Wi-Fi 6E tri-band and a built-in Ethernet port
- Built-in far-field microphones and speaker for hands-free Alexa
- HDMI input — connect a cable box or console and control it by voice
- Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, Dolby Atmos and 7.1 surround
Best for: living-room command centres, smart homes, and anyone who wants hands-free control or a wired connection.
Check PriceThe Cube’s real advantage is the Ethernet port
If your Wi-Fi network is congested or unreliable — and most streaming problems are — a wired connection removes the variable entirely. The Cube is the only Amazon streaming device with Ethernet built in. On a Fire TV Stick, the equivalent is the Micro-USB Ethernet adapter.
Bundles: protection and cable packs
Same hardware, extra cover or accessories. Useful in specific situations, and not otherwise.
4K Select + 2-Year Protection Plan
- Amazon-backed 2-year protection plan
- Covers mechanical and electrical breakdowns plus normal wear
- Fast claims process with 24/7 assistance
Best for: households with kids or heavy daily use.
Check PriceHD Stick + 2-Year Protection Plan

Best for: college housing, rentals, and vacation properties.
Check PriceAlexa Voice Remote Pro & replacements

Best for: replacing a lost remote without replacing the whole device.

Streaming quality depends on your television, your network, and the service as well as the device. Any of these sticks needs a compatible 4K television and content to output 4K. Confirm current specifications and availability on the product page before ordering.
After you buy: the two things that actually matter
Most Fire TV problems people bring to us are power and resolution, not the stick. Two guides cover it.
Turn off autoplay, fix the home screen
The Fire TV home screen plays video and audio trailers by default. Turning those off makes the interface load instantly and stay quiet. The setup guide also covers display calibration and audio settings.
Open the setup guideBoot loops, black screen, no signal
Work through power source, HDMI connection, and TV input one at a time before you consider replacing hardware. Includes the remote resolution-reset shortcut.

What each accessory actually solves, including when a USB power cable is worth it and when it causes boot loops.
